The Portuguese pilot course of Culture on Prescription project started on April 24th, in Coimbra. Culture on Prescription is an Erasmus+ project, where SHINE is a partner, and that aims to prevent and combat social isolation and loneliness through art and culture prescribing.
Once a week, a group of eight participants and two facilitators will be together, developing activities connected to theatre, with the expected impact of reducing loneliness among the participants.
The pilot course is implemented by the Trincheira Teatro Company, a Theatre Company from Coimbra, born in 2014, and with a vision very connected to the aims of our project: besides the production, presentation and dissemination of theatrical productions and other artistic and cultural materials related to the performing arts, they make their work strengthening three core areas of action: theatrical production, pedagogy and research.
The “Senses Workshop – exercise of conscious imagination to (re)know the world we live in” is based on the theoretical fields of Theatre and Education, Lifelong Learning and Local Development, and the sessions are planned through 5 phases, where different forms of imagination will be promoted: Activation, Exploration, Internalization, Updating and Retroaction. All the phases are connected, and the activities are suggested to enhance the passage from one phase to another.
The feedback from the participants was very positive from these first sessions and we are very much looking forward to seeing its evolution!
